Dear Huntsman World Senior Gamer,

There’s not much more to say other than, “The Games are almost here!”  We are all so excited to have you joining us in St. George, Utah for the Huntsman World Senior Games.  Before you arrive, I wanted to give you a “head’s up” on a few things that can help you get the most out of your Games experience.

Refund Policy

When an athlete registers for the Huntsman World Senior Games, the anticipation is that that athlete will be joining nearly 10,000 others in St. George and having the time of their lives in October. However, unfortunately, sometimes things do not always go according to plan.  Sickness, injury or other issues occasionally make it impossible to compete.

The Games has a cancellation policy to attempt to accommodate these unexpected occurrences.  If an athlete is unable to attend the Games because of injury or some other reason, and the Games receives written notice of the cancellation before September 30, 2009, a refund equal to the registration fee paid, less a $25 processing fee is issued.  The written notice can be sent in the following ways:

Email:
hwsg@seniorgames.net

Mail:
Huntsman World Senior Games
1070 W 1600 S, A-103
St. George, UT 84770

Fax:
(435) 674-0589

Unfortunately, there will be no refunds for cancellation requests after September 30.

Check-In at the Dixie Center

Before you step onto the field, jump into the pool, walk onto the court or take your first practice swings with your lucky bat, you’ll need to check-in at the Games’ Headquarters at the Dixie Center.  We’ll begin check-in on Sunday, October 4 at 9:00 am and we’ll keep right on going until 9:00 pm that night and then start it all up again on Monday morning at 7:00 am.  A complete Dixie Center Schedule is listed below.

At check-in you’ll be given your official I.D., athlete shirt and welcome bag.  You’ll also have the chance to peruse the Gift Shop, get up-to-the-minute sport information at the Sports Den and visit with a wide variety of sponsors and vendors who are there to provide goods and services specifically targeted to your unique needs and desires.  Take a few minutes, look around and enjoy yourself while in the Dixie Center.  See the schedule below:

Opening Ceremonies – Tuesday, October 6, Line-up for Athlete March – 6:30 pm

One of the highlights, year after year, for the participants of the Huntsman World Senior Games is the Opening Ceremonies.  Where else can you enjoy an incredible night of entertainment with a few thousand close and personal friends?  The show begins October 6, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hansen Stadium at Dixie State College where it will all come together for “A Moment Like This,” which happens to be the theme of the show.

You’ll want to get there by 6:30 pm to visit with friends and get lined up for the Parade of Athletes.  Athletes will enter the stadium from two different entrances this year.  Softball Players will stage in the Northwest corner of Hansen Stadium and all other sports will stage in the Southeast corner.  You’ll receive specific instruction that night.

International Festival – Tuesday, October 13, 4pm – 7pm

We are pleased to announce the second annual International Festival, 4 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2009. This year’s event promises to be even better than last year as we have fine-tuned the format. The focus will be on cultural education. Local businesses will adopt a country and provide attendees with an educational experience focused on that country.  Visitor to the booths should leave with a better understanding about the various cultures around the world.  What better way to foster worldwide peace, health and friendship?

Concert & Celebration – Tuesday, October 13, 7:00 pm

You won’t want to miss this year’s Concert & Celebration where the Flying Karamazov Brothers will be the featured entertainment.  The show will be in the Burns Arena, Dixie State College, on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 and starts at 7:00 pm.  Athletes with an ID badge get in free along with one guest, so be sure to check-in at the Dixie Center as soon as you get into town.

The Flying Karamazov Brothers have performed all over the world and been guests on a variety of television shows including Good Morning America and the Tonight Show.  It promises to be an incredible night of laughter, high-energy and fun.
