     The Doofers Softball team from Renton Wash. on Wednesday (7/9/08) won the championship of the 2008 Spring Men's Rec Lower Softball League. The season started auspiciously with the passing of long time friend and team mate Kirk Kauzlarich to cancer...then about a quarter way into the season our shortstop, Mike Lowe underwent triple bypass surgery the day after a league double header win. Due to nagging injuries which translated into a shortness of able players for the end of the regular season and the playoffs, Mike Moller's son Jeff was called apon to bring in some fresh legs. Doofers completed the season with a 13 win - 3 loss record... winning the league... then went on to win four playoff games in a row to win the Championship. In the final five games of the regular season and three of the four playoff games - Doofers 10 runned there opponents. With a team average age of 56-1/2 most of the games played where against players one-half to one-third there age. This was the 7th season for this group of players - playing in the Renton League and in that time they have won the Championship (4) times and placed second once.
